神に仕えたい、教会を手伝いたい、クリスチャンの成長を助けたい、純粋な気持ちから始まる奉仕の日々。しかし、いつかしら感じる疲れ、隔離、孤独、二重生活、燃え尽き・・・私たちが経験したり、耳にすることではないでしょうか？

ポール・トリップは、自身の著書 “危険な使命”の中で、まず、自らの経験を振り返っています。すでに牧師だった自分が、怒り、プライド、そして表向きの自分とプライベートの自分の分離によって破滅に向かっていたことを語るポールは、そのような状態にいるのが自分だけではないことに気づき、「診断書」の役割を果たすこの本を執筆しました。牧会者の頭と心の分裂、コミュニティーとの断絶、神への畏敬の念を失う時に、恐れによってミニストリーへと駆り立てられるようになること、など、牧師だけではなく、召しを感じて奉仕の役割に着く人が直面することに触れています。根底にある問題は、牧会文化にではなく、牧会者の心にあり、実に、自分が大切にしていること（もの）が、ミニストリーを方向付けていくのです。

自らの経験を正直に話すポールは、第三者のように裁いて語ることはせず、また、私たちの罪深い心をあらわにするだけではありません。一貫して、誠実にキリストを指し示し続け、その話のあちらこちらで、私たちを自由に解き放つことができる福音を明らかにしてくれます。自分で自分に福音を語ることや、表向きの自分とプライベートの自分との分離をなくしていくことなどに関して、実際に適用できることなど、聞く一人一人の助けとなる内容の講演です。

The days of Christian service begin with a pure desire to serve God, to aid the church, to help other Christians grow…But one day, we find ourselves feeling tired, separated, lonely and burned out …

In his book ‘Dangerous Calling’, Paul Tripp recounts how his early years as a pastor were marked by anger, pride, and a developing ‘disconnect between the public pastoral persona and the private man’. However, he realizes that his experience is not unique and writes this book to aid others in diagnosing these issues. He touches on the separation of the pastor’s head from his heart, the separation of the pastor from community, about ministry motivated by fear when we lose awe of God, etc. These are the things that not only pastors but also those who serve in the church with a sense of calling face. The root problem is not pastoral culture but the pastor’s heart. Indeed, what we treasure will rule our hearts and direct our ministries.

Paul, who talks about himself honestly, does not speak with judgement as an outside observer or leave us after exposing our sinful hearts. He faithfully points us to Christ and his liberating gospel. He will be speaking to us about how to preach the gospel to ourselves and will give helpful suggestions about how to close the gap between our private and public lives.

‘DANGEROUS CALLING’ is not yet translated into Japanese. This is a great opportunity to hear from Paul himself. There will also be an introduction of the Joy of Japan Center and other church plants.
